Former Arsenal prodigy Serge Gnabry could be returning home to the Emirates after Real Madrid ruled themselves out of a move, according to Marca.
Long gone are the days where the German wasn’t good enough for Tony Pulis’ West Brom. Since having left Arsenal in 2016, the 26-year-old’s career has gone from strength to strength, with spells at Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, before scoring 61 goals and assisting 40 in his time at Bundesliga juggernaut Bayern Munich, at an average of 105 minutes per g/a.
With a year left on his contract, and with no intention of renewing his deal, the talismanic winger looks set to leave Bavaria. The German club have set their sights on Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, and with Kingsley Coman extending his contract until 2027, the former Gunner’s man sees now as the best time for new beginnings.

The question then becomes, will Arsenal sign him? Mikel Arteta once described the explosive wide-man as a “little boxer” when the two played alongside one another, but it is unclear whether that knockout power is something the Spaniard craves, at least, with the requirements for such ferocity.
Reports from Germany suggest that Gnabry rejected an offer from Bayern Munich of roughly €19 million per annum. Therefore, you would expect that the Gunners would have to offer at least this amount in order to persuade their former student to return, and that’s without the consideration of lacking Champions League football.
Arsenal are in dire need of a winger, and are reported to be actively looking for a wideman, having been overly reliant on Bukayo Saka in the season gone. The Hale End extraordinaire was the only Arsenal play to feature in all 38 Premier League games last season. This, coupled with the inexperience of Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe on Arsenal’s left flank, means that any move for the German international would not only be welcome, it would be a game changer.

The dynamic winger is Arsenal through and through, reflected by his famous “North London is Red” tweet back in 2019, having just rifled home four against bitter rivals Spurs for the German club. There is no doubt a deep-rooted love for the club of his upbringing, but only time will tell if the Gunners boss can convince the Champions League winner to bring his continental expertise to the inexperienced Arsenal dressing room.
