Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are exploring the signing of Sassuolo forward Gianluca Scamacca, according to Italian journalist DiMarzio.
The Gunners’ hunt for a ruthless forward to spearhead their attack is no secret, and their scouting network appears to be run far and wide as Arteta and co. hone in on potential targets. The 23-year-old, born in the historic streets of Rome, forged by the Neroverdi, a 6”5 Italian giant, would be impossible to miss off the transfer radar of those at London Colney.
Having spent the early years of his career hopping between multiple clubs, both in his homeland and further ashore, Scamacca settled into the best version of himself yet in the season gone, scoring 16 goals in 36 appearances, at an average of a goal every 134 minutes.

His domineering frame has caught the eye of potential suitors, with a concoction of upper-body strength and deceptively agile movement meaning clubs throughout Europe have stood up and noticed. This in accordance with viciously clean ball-striking means that the Gunners are reportedly exploring the possibility of attaining his services at N5.
However, Arsenal will be wary of dealing with Italian clubs, especially after a prolonged saga with Sassualo over Locatelli last summer, and the lowballing of players currently on their roster like Lucas Torreira and Pablo Mari.
Any potential move would also have to fight off Borussia Dortmund, who have an Erling Haaland shaped hole in their forward line following the Norwegian’s move to Manchester City. Despite having themselves signed German prodigy Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg, the chance of adding Scamacca, a man not yet in his prime, will be an enticing prospect to the German club.
There’s no doubt that Arsenal will strengthen offensively this summer, with club captain Alexandre Lacazette departing, the Gunners currently have one striker at the club, Hale End graduate Eddie Nketiah. However, whether the forward they sign is Gianluca Scamacca, or is instead a player closer to home such as City’s Gabriel Jesus we will soon know the answer to.
