Bukayo Saka has been named Arsenal’s player of the season for 2021/22, claiming a landslide victory with 58% of the fan vote. He is the first player to win the award in successive seasons since Thierry Henry in 2004.
Saka excelled this season, finishing as Arsenal’s top scorer with twelve goals and seven assists in the Premier League. He also showed impressive stamina, playing in every Premier League game.
Only three other Arsenal players have won the player of the season award back to back, those others being Liam Brady, Ian Wright and Henry, meaning Saka has joined some legendary Arsenal company.

Aaron Ramsdale came in third place in the player of the season award running, impressing after his arrival from Sheffield United, whilst Norwegian Martin Ødegaard came in second place.
Not only did Saka top-score for the Gunners, but he scored in some big moments, including goals against Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea. Some of his most memorable moments include a fantastic winner against Aston Villa, a double at Norwich and a superb goal at Watford after robbing Tom Cleverly.
After his traumatic penalty miss in the Euro’s final last summer Bukayo has shown immense mental strength to recover and have a season as strong as this. Taking crucial penalties towards the end of the season is also testament to the brilliance and bravery of Arsenal’s deserved player of the season.
Winning this award should serve as a reminder as to how important Bukayo Saka has become to Arsenal’s side. With only two years left on his current deal and rumours of interest from elsewhere, Saka’s future will be a priority for Mikel Arteta this summer.
