The extremely reliable Fabrizio Romano has knocked back any suggestions that Arsenal would be willing to let William Saliba go this Summer.
Romano took to Twitter to speak on the situation following rumours of an approach by Marseille for the young defender.
He claims any rumours of a loan are wide of the mark, with Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal board counting on Saliba for next season.

Romano went on to explain that he has been told only a 'crazy' bid could change the situation and Arsenal are keen on discussing a new contract for the Frenchman.
This news will serve as a positive update for Arsenal fans hoping to see the player they signed in 2019 finally wear the Arsenal shirt in a competitive game.
Furthermore, Romano added to his comments in an interview with CaughtOffside:
"Marseille have tried to approach Arsenal for Saliba but it is not a negotiation that is proceeding because Mikel Arteta wants Saliba in next year's squad."

"In fact, I'm told Marseille are already targeting other players."
Marseille had hoped to take Saliba back to France permanently following a brilliant season.

The 21-year-old was ever-present for the French club last season as they finished second in Ligue 1.
Saliba played as a right centre-back and sometimes right-back in Jorge Sampaoli's system and impressed constantly.
The defender was called up to Didier Deschamps' France national side for his efforts and was rewarded with the Ligue 1 young player of the year award at the end of the season.
Saliba was signed by Arsenal in 2019 for around £27m from French side Saint-Etienne.

At the time, the Frenchman was just 18 years old and was loaned back to his former club as part of the deal.
Unfortunately, his season was interrupted by injuries and ended prematurely by the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Arsenal fans then expected the defender to make his return to Arsenal, he was kept out of the squad and eventually loaned to OGC Nice in January.
When Saliba was loaned once again to France upon his return, many fans suspected a poor relationship between player and manager, Arteta.

However, both Arteta and Saliba have spoken out recently, sharing a desire for the Frenchman's Arsenal career to finally start.
Saliba is expected to join up with Arsenal's squad and enter their group of defenders. While Ben White and Gabriel seemed first choice last season, Arteta reportedly wants competition in his squad and Saliba will undoubtedly add this.
