A trademark of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal is the consistent use of young, homegrown players.
However one youngster, once dubbed ‘the next big thing’, could soon be on his way out.
According to Charles Watts, Reiss Nelson could be sold this summer

The winger finds himself with just one year left on his contract at the Gunners.
When Nelson was rising through the ranks of Arsenal’s youth team there was great excitement about the youngster.
Highlights of the Hale End alum would go viral on social media with Arsenal fans becoming more and more excited to see the winger in the side’s first team.
Yet, Nelson has struggled to adapt to the demands of first team football and has found himself surplus to requirements in Arteta’s squad.

In an attempt to acclimatise to senior football, the 22-year-old has been on two loans on the continent with varying degrees of success.
Last season Nelson featured for Feyenoord.
Nelson played in 21 Eredivisie games, albeit 11 from the bench, and managed to chip in with two goals and four assists.
The youngster also starred in the Dutch side’s run to the Europa Conference League Final, where his side fell short in a 1-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Now back at Arsenal and with ever-increasing depth in the Gunners’ attack, it appears Nelson will once again struggle for first team games.
New signings Gabriel Jesus and Marquinhos, as well as the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Emile Smith-Rowe will all be competing for spots in Arsenal’s attack.
With the possible addition of another winger too, Nelson will find minutes difficult to come by.

It therefore seems that a sale of the tricky winger is now the most likely option and also the best outcome for all parties involved.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Nelson is able to showcase his talents elsewhere in a way he has not been able to in North London.
Matteo Guendouzi and Dinos Mavrapanos have already left Arsenal this summer so far.
There remains interest in player such as Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Nicolas Pepe as Arsenal look to refresh their squad.
