According to reports, Arsenal are planning to embark on a 'spending spree' this week as they prepare to spend £70m to bring two targets to the Emirates.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Arsenal will return this week for Gabriel Jesus and Lisandro Martinez. Arsenal have already had bids rebuffed for both players but are confident of completing deals that would see both join Mikel Arteta's team.

Manchester City are asking for a price close to £50m for their Brazilian striker, with Arsenal thought to be willing to shake hands on a deal worth that amount of money.

Jones claims Ajax are demanding around £30m for Argentine defender Martinez, who was voted the Dutch club's player of the season for the last campaign. Martinez is attracted to Arteta's project and would be open to the move.

Jesus is a widely reported top target for Mikel Arteta this summer, with the striker set to leave City following the signings of Erling Haaland and Julien Alvarez. The striker previously worked with Arteta at City and would likely be Arsenal's main striking option.

The Brazilian is an intense pressing forward, with his on-ball ability and goal-scoring prowess among the many strings in his bow that have convinced Arteta to bring him to North London this summer.

Arsenal's interest in Lisandro Martinez hasn't been widely reported until very recently but the Gunners appear to be pushing hard to sign the defender.

The Argentine is short for a centre-back at 5'9 but is still strong in the air. He is adept on the ball, with his long, precise passes undoubtedly an attraction for Arteta. Crucially, Martinez is left-footed and would provide great cover and competition for Gabriel Magalhaes.

Martinez is also incredibly versatile, having the ability to play at a high level at left-back and defensive-midfield as well as his usual position. With the constant injuries to Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey, this would make a very attractive addition to Arteta's squad.

The coming week will likely prove to be a very busy one for Arsenal with deals for not only Martinez and Jesus but Youri Tielemans too being discussed. With the confirmation of the signing of Fabio Vieira also to come, Arsenal fans will be very excited by the manner in which Arsenal appear to be acting this summer.
