Aaron Ramsdale is going to be given the chance to stake his claim for England’s no.1 spot in the final two Nations League games, according to the Evening Standard.
The 24-year-old had a mixed debut season for Arsenal, beginning the campaign an impenetrable wall for the Gunners, reflected through his physics-defying save against Leicester being nominated for save of the season by the Premier League.
However, as with many of the Arsenal players, he tailed off towards the latter stage of the season, as the inexperienced squad ran out of steam under the immense pressure of a Champions League hunt.

That said, the former Sheffield United man finished third in the Arsenal Player of the Season rankings - finishing behind Martin Odegaard in 2nd and Bukayo Saka in 1st - and will reflect upon his season as positive, albeit with the potential for greater growth.
Now the vocal Englishman looks set to be rewarded for his Arsenal form by starting at least one of the final two Nations League games, against Italy and Hungary.
After current England no.1 Jordan Pickford had a poor outing against Germany, Ramsdale will be looking to seize the opportunity to hold onto a starting berth. Much like he did once signing for Arsenal, once Bernd Leno gave him an inch, he took a mile.
With the World Cup this winter, the two Nations League games represent one of the final chances for the Arsenal keeper to make sure he’s in Qatar this November as more than a spectator.

If Ramsdale can replicate his early season form in the coming week for England, he will stand himself in good stead to make donning the England shirt a more permanent event.
