Fofana netted Chelsea's opener in the 24th minute at Stamford Bridge, slotting past Ciprian Tatarusanu to send the hosts on their way to all three points in Group E.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James added the other goals for Chelsea, but the night was left on a damper following Fofana’s injury.
