Chelsea co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly is set for talks with Sevilla over Jules Kounde, it has been reported.
This comes as Chelsea are once again in a transfer battle with Barcelona over a player this summer, as the La Liga side had reportedly agreed a deal in principle to sign Kounde, hijacking his move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were thought to have been closing in on a £55 million move to bring Kounde to London, however this has now been thrown into doubt.

While Sevlla have denied any reports of an agreement with Barcelona, the situation remains unclear as he remains in Portugal on pre-season camp with his teammates.
It was further stated that Sevilla were still waiting for Chelsea to send over documentation for the move which would put their verbal agreement in writing as Kounde took to Instagram to send a cryptic message, posting a motivational video on his story.
It has now been reported by Simon Jones of The Daily Mail that Sevilla sporting director Monchi will be at the club’s training camp in Portugal on Sunday.

Here, he is set to talk with Chelsea co-owner and acting sporting director Todd Boehly regarding the move, as the American looks to clear things up as he searches for defensive additions this summer.
The report continues to state that Chelsea are wary of Barcelona’s threat to make a last minute bid following the release of further funds after they sold more TV rights this week.
Barcelona boss Xavi has already contacted Kounde to tell him that he is a key part of his plans at the Camp Nou, asking the defender to wait for their offer before accepting a move to Chelsea.

Despite this, the Catalan club still have to reach an agreement with Sevilla, which could be difficult as Chelsea’s bid is already seen as ‘too strong’.
They have threatened to match Chelsea’s £55 million bid in two instalments and Kounde’s will could result in where he ends up.
Thomas Tuchel has been keen to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers.

Kalidou Koulibaly arrived in a deal from Napoli for £34 million, strengthening the backline but the German head coach is keen to add further.
It remains unclear as to where Kounde will end up, with the longer the transfer saga goes on the more frustrating it becomes for Chelsea and their fans.
PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe has been linked with a move to London during the transfer window.
Former Blue Nathan Ake was also interesting Tuchel's side, who refused to match the defender's valuation.

Chelsea will no doubt look to make another defensive addition, whether Kounde is that or not remains to be seen.
