Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has been put on red alert after Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest decision to eye a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Boehly was interested in the summer and spoke with Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, but then head coach Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to give the green light to a transfer and Ronaldo remained at Old Trafford.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag wanted to keep Ronaldo, admitting back in July: "Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans. We want success together.

"I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me, what I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together."
Tuchel refused to sign off on a deal for the Portuguese international because he wanted to focus on the team rather than an individual.
Now Tuchel has departed and Graham Potter is at the helm, a move for Ronaldo could be back on the cards if Boehly wants another chance to go for the 37-year-old.

As reported by The Telegraph, Ronaldo now wants to leave in January and Ten Hag is open to a departure if a suitable offer is made for the Manchester United star.
Ronaldo was left on the bench during Man United’s humiliating 6-3 defeat to Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon at the Etihad.
Ten Hag opted to send on Anthony Martial instead and explained his reasoning post-match, saying: "I didn't bring him on out of respect for his big career.

"And the other thing, there was then the advantage I could bring Antony Martial on. He needs the minutes but I don't want to point it out like that."
Now, as reported, barring a dramatic upturn in his fortunes, Ronaldo wants to gets a move in the January transfer window after not getting his summer move.

With Ronaldo wanting an exit and Ten Hag open to accepting his wishes, Boehly could go to Potter this time and ask if he wants the forward.
If the 47-year-old is happy to have him at Stamford Bridge, a swoop for Ronaldo could be likely in January should Chelsea be ready to make a renewed move.

Whether Man United would let him join a Premier League rival remains to be seen. They weren't keen on the idea during the summer.

Chelsea have already started to plan for the upcoming windows, agreeing a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, and they also want defender Josko Gvardiol.
