Chelsea's on-loan midfielder Saul Niguez has penned an honest and emotional farewell to the Blues ahead of his return to Atletico Madrid.
The 27-year-old made 23 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge in a fairly uneventful spell in London.
Taking to Twitter, Saul penned an honest farewell to the Chelsea fans, expressing his emotions and saying his thanks to those at Stamford Bridge.

He began: "I’m writing to take my leave of you. I would like to tell you how I felt during this adventure. Things didn’t start well at all. After a long time at home, changing everything wasn’t easy."
The midfielder rarely featured at the beginning of the season, with Thomas Tuchel preferring his regular midfield partnership with two of Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante or Jorginho playing the majority of the matches, whilst Ruben Loftus-Cheek overtook Saul in the pecking order.
The Spaniard continued to explain how things improved for him at Chelsea after a frustrating start to his career in Stamford Bridge.

"Little by little things got better," he continued. "Everything in life serves to improve and learn, and that’s what I take from this adventure. I’d like to thank the club for trying to take care of every detail to make me feel at home."
Saul continued to express his gratitude to the members of staff at Chelsea for helping him to feel welcome during his season-long loan before continuing to acknowledge the support of the fans.
He continued: "I’d also like to give recognition to each worker, thank you. Thank you for making this club much bigger. Thanks to all the fans for supporting me through thick and thin. I will be forever grateful.

"Thanks to all the staff for making it possible for me to win titles with the blue shirt."
The Atletico loanee concluded his message by expressing his respect and thanks for his teammates, who helped him during his spell in London.
"But above all, I wanted to thank my teammates. They have been fundamental so that I wouldn’t fall apart. They helped me to continue supporting the team and live a calm and positive day to day. Thank you, Chelsea."
Recent reports claiming that Saul would not return to Chelsea have all but been confirmed by the player himself in the honest message as he looks set to fight for a place back in Diego Simeone's side upon his return to Spain.
