As well as adding strength to Chelsea's wing-back areas, Tuchel sees Cucurella as being able to play on the left side of his back three.
Potential counterparts have been discussed as part of the deal, including Levi Colwill, and Matt Law also claims that Graham Potter’s side 'could be tempted’ by a deal that involves Colwill heading to the AMEX.
Cucurella's arrival could allow for Marcos Alonso's departure to Barcelona, while Cesar Azpilicueta is still hoping for a move to the Camp Nou.

Thomas Tuchel wanted a left-sided defender after the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
During the club's pre-season tour of the United States, he said: "We are looking of course for people who can play on the left side.
"To be honest, Antonio (Rudiger) played on the left side and he is not left footed. Maybe Kalidou can play there because he plays in a back four on the left side.
