Laurence Stewart will join Chelsea as the club’s new technical director to focus on football globally, it has been confirmed.
He is currently AS Monaco’s technical director, but will move to Stamford Bridge once he completes his commitments to the Ligue 1 side.
Stewart has worked for Red Bull Soccer International, Manchester City and Everton during his career prior to moving to AS Monaco.

But Chelsea have landed their man as the recruitment rebuild gets into full swing under the ownership led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
The club confirmed Stewart’s arrival, writing: “Laurence Stewart will be joining Chelsea in a new position as technical director to focus on football globally.
“Stewart will join Chelsea when he completes his commitments to AS Monaco where he is currently technical director.”
Following his appointment, Stewart expressed his delight and excitement at helping Chelsea recruit world-class talent and being part of the vision which looks to have a multi-club network.

Boehly, who is Chelsea Chairman, and Clearlake’s Behdad Eghbali, co-owner, added: “Laurence is an important appointment as we plan to build a deep sporting team that will collaborate closely.
“Laurence is a world-class football leader who understands talent management, data and scouting, player development and performance.”
Chelsea's recruitment revamp is well underway as the new owners complete a new-look setup in west London.

With Stewart's appointment confirmed, he is set to be joined by Joe Shields and Christopher Vivell who are expected to join from Southampton and RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were also given permission to speak to Brighton's Head of Recruitment Paul Winstanley in recent days over a role at Stamford Bridge.
A sporting director is also wanted by Chelsea but they are in no rush to make an appointment to the position, with Boehly currently holding the job on an interim basis.
The dominoes are starting to fall in the capital, and with Chelsea still unbeaten under new boss Graham Potter, it's all smiles at the moment.
