Bayern Munich enquired about Kai Havertz’s situation at Chelsea at the beginning of the transfer window after eyeing him as a potential Robert Lewandowski replacement, according to reports.
Havertz has three years left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and it’s set to be a big season for the Germany international over his long-term future in the English capital.
The 23-year-old saw his German compatriot Timo Werner depart back to RB Leipzig earlier this week, and interest has been shown from Bayern over Havertz.

Havertz will go down in Chelsea history for scoring the only and decisive goal to win Chelsea the Champions League back in 2021, which has seen him score 23 goals and register 14 assists in the 93 appearances he has made for the Blues in all competitions.
Thomas Tuchel wanted a striker this summer and was interested in Robert Lewandowski this summer, however he opted to make the switch to Barcelona.
As Bayern looked at replacements, as reported by SPORT1 in Germany, at the beginning of the summer transfer window, sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić enquired to the ROOF agency about Havertz's situation and plans.

Bayern will ‘continue to keep an eye on’ Havertz with next summer set to be a decisive one when the attacker will have just two years left on his deal.
Chelsea will need to decide if they want to cash-in to recoup a large portion of the £72 million paid, or extend his stay at the club.
Havertz is hoping for a special year for himself and the squad, and believes they have the capabilities to achieve big things in 2022-23.

“We are a special group,” Havertz said last month.
“We see that in the changing room and also on the pitch. We have a lot of young players who are roughly the same age.
‘We also have a lot of experienced players and we all fit together very well. It is hopefully going to be a special year for us.”
He is hoping new signing Raheem Sterling will aid his game following his arrival from Manchester City, adding: “You can see his quality here already and it’s been just a few days. You can see in training how good he is, how fast he is. He is definitely going to help us.

“We all know he is a great player. I saw a stat about him that he has had the most goals and assists for Man City in the last five years, something like that. It tells the whole story of him.
"He was a great player for City and the national team as well.
"Hopefully, he can keep up his level here. For me and for everyone, he is going to help”

Havertz could be joined by more competition though this summer. Chelsea are keen on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and talks remain ongoing with Barcelona.
