Ian Maatsen is set for a permanent departure from Chelsea this summer as he approaches a move to Feyenoord, according to reports.
The 20-year-old joined the Blues back in 2018 from PSV Eindhoven before spending two seasons out on loan to further his development.
While the Dutchman has impressed for other sides during these spells, he has been unable to challenge for a place in the senior team at Chelsea.

With the summer transfer window now in full swing, Maatsen could be one of the club’s pending departures as they look to get their business underway in the market.
According to 90min, Feyenoord are close to signing the left-back on a permanent deal this summer.
Maatsen’s youth career began at the Eredivisie side back in 2009 before he made the move to Sparta Rotterdam four years later.

He spent two years in the Dutch city and then transferred to PSV in 2015, joining Chelsea after three years at the club.
The defender’s first loan spell away from the Blues saw him feature for Charlton Athletic in League One during the 2020/21 campaign where he made 35 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting three more for the Addicks.
Last season he featured for Coventry City, with Maatsen impressing in the Championship as he made four goal contributions in 42 appearances across all competitions.
He has only featured once for Chelsea in his four years at the club, coming off the bench in their Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby Town in 2019.

Although Coventry are said to have made an enquiry about signing him for another season for the new campaign, it is believed that Maatsen is close to signing for Feyenoord.
Ajax were also interested in acquiring the defender but he is set to complete a move to the Eredivisie runners-up this summer, even though he has two years left on his contract at Chelsea.
He will likely replace Feyenoord’s departing left-back Tyrell Malacia, who is on his way to Ligue 1 side Lyon.

It could be a huge summer of change for Chelsea in the coming weeks and months especially after their recent takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, and the Blues will be keen to mount a Premier League title challenge next season after five years without the honour to their name.
Thomas Tuchel is believed to have been promised up to six new signings in the window, with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Matthijs de Ligt being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.
