Chelsea handed fitness boost ahead of Brentford clash as Potter confirms return of Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech looks to be ready to return to the squad for Chelsea's clash with Brentford.

Graham Potter has handed Chelsea a fitness boost by confirming that Hakim Ziyech is available for the Blues' clash with Brentford.

Chelsea face a trip to the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday night to take on Thomas Frank's side in the Premier League.

The Blues will be hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten start under the management of Potter with another good result against the Bees.

So far with the 47-year-old at the helm the west London side have won five from a possible six games.

Last time out Chelsea held off Aston Villa to win 2-0 and added another clean sheet to make it four in a row.

October has been a successful month for the Blues and it has seen them move into the top four spots in the Premier League.

If they can pick up a win against their London rivals, they would move to just one point behind both Tottenham and last years Champions Manchester City.

Last season Chelsea faced the then newly promoted Brentford three times, twice in the Premier League and once in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

While the Blues emerged victorious on two of the occasions, they were embarrassed when they played host to them at Stamford Bridge and were beaten 4-1.

Chelsea will be hopeful of a lot better than that against the Bees on Wednesday.

Ahead of the game, Potter has handed the Blues a boost by sharing Moroccan winger Ziyech is available.

As quoted by the official Chelsea website, the Englishman revealed: "He's fine. He's trained the last few days so he'll be involved against Brentford.

"He had a really heavy cold which knocked him about for a few days so the game against Villa came too soon but he's trained well recently so he'll be involved."

Ziyech has only featured once so far with Potter in charge and it was his first game against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

Even though Chelsea will be without Reece James (knee), Wesley Fofana (knee) and N'Golo Kante (hamstring) for this contest the 29-year-old's return is a boost.

It has been a difficult start to the season for him, playing in just four matches for the Blues so far.

Ziyech will be hoping to utilise the game against Brentford if handed the opportunity to impress his new head coach.
