The good run of form has seen Chelsea move up into the top four, and they currently sit just one point ahead of their opponents at the weekend.
Erik ten Hag will be wanting to leapfrog the Blues and jump up into the Champions League spots.
The visitors defeated Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night and are on a five-game unbeaten streak at the moment.
While the result and performance was a good one for United, it was heavily overshadowed by the drama surrounding Ronaldo.

In the 2-0 victory, the 37-year-old refused to come on and walked down the tunnel before the full-time whistle.
Following his actions, Ten Hag has shared that he won't be travelling with the squad for the match against Chelsea.

There has been a lot of rumours surrounding the superstar in recent months, with him looking likely to exit the club soon.
Over the summer Chelsea were in fact one of the teams tied to a potential move for Ronaldo.
In excess of £250 million was spent in the window which was a club-record but the Portuguese ace did not complete a move.
To fix the forward crisis they had, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brought in, and although he has started well at the west London side, the Ronaldo links have not gone away.

Boehly has been reported to be interested in bringing him to Chelsea, and amid that interest Potter has been asked his thoughts.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he was asked if Boehly was to present an opportunity to sign Ronaldo would he be open to it. The head coach responded: "As you know, I never speak about players that aren't Chelsea players."
Should a move to Stamford Bridge be open for Ronaldo, when January rolls around it will be interesting to see how Chelsea approach the matter.
