The value of Graham Potter’s Chelsea contract has been revealed after he penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Potter’s arrival as Chelsea head coach was confirmed on Thursday afternoon after Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali made the decision to appoint the 47-year-old on a long-term contract.

Chelsea quickly swooped in for Potter following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal on Wednesday morning during a meeting at Cobham to relieve the German of his duties in west London.

Boehly and Co wanted their next appointment to be someone who was willing to be part of the new era, project and vision at Stamford Bridge.

"They turned to Potter, he was keen and accepted the step up to make the move to the capital from the south coast.

He expressed his delight and outlined his ambitions and hopes for his new squad that he will meet for the first time on Friday morning.

Potter told the official Chelsea website: “I am incredibly proud and excited to represent Chelsea FC, this fantastic football club. I am very excited to partner with Chelsea’s new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and to develop a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.

“I would also like to place my sincere thanks to Brighton & Hove Albion for allowing me this opportunity and in particular Tony Bloom and all the players, staff and supporters for their continued support during my time at the club.”

Now he has arrived, Potter has earned a lucrative contract and pay rise which highlights the faith being shown in him to succeed at Chelsea under the new ownership.

As revealed by Matt Law of The Telegraph, Potter's five-year contract is worth £60 million. That means the former Brighton boss will earn £12 million-a-year.

The appointment, which sees five of his backroom team at Brighton join him at Chelsea, has cost the club in excess of £35 million and Boehly will be hoping the major decision pays off in the long run.

Graham Potter outlines Chelsea vision after signing five-year deal at Stamford Bridge

Boehly hailed Potter as 'extremely talented' after confirming his appointment, adding: "We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club.

"Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club.

"He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea.

"We look forward to supporting him, his coaching team and the squad in realising their full potential in the coming months and years."
