Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard believes Chelsea should be wiping the floor with Aston Villa after hailing the big move that Potter got the opportunity to take at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "It’s a big moment for English and British managers for Graham to get that opportunity.
"When you come to places with Brighton, with all due respect, it's different when you come with Chelsea because Chelsea should be competing for the league, Champions League, and coming to Villa Park and wiping the floor with us."
Despite Villa's poor recent form, Potter remains wary of the challenge this weekend as Villa eye a change in fortunes in their league form.
The Chelsea head coach said: "The margins are very small in the Premier League. I'm sure Steven (Gerrard) will want to improve results. We need to make sure we are ready for that challenge."
