Christopher Vivell will become Chelsea's next Technical Director after he was released from his position at RB Leipzig, according to reports.
Chelsea have been on the hunt for senior appointments all summer and have failed up until now despite a host of talks with several candidates.
Michael Edwards, Christoph Freund and other names have all been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge, with co-owner Todd Boehly eyeing an appointment before the World Cup next month.

Chelsea expressed interest in Vivell and spoke to the Leipzig Technical Director in recent days, and Leipzig on Friday confirmed the departure of the 35-year-old.
In a statement, they said: "Vivell and RBL part ways with immediate effect | His role to be taken over by existing set-up for now
"Christopher Vivell was dismissed from his position as technical Director yesterday (Thursday) with immediate effect, due to differences of opinion.

"The 35-year-old's duties will be carried out by the current set-up, until Max Eberl takes over as the new Managing Director of Sport."
It sparked speculation that he could be joining Chelsea and it has now been confirmed by Matt Law of the Telegraph that Vivell will make the switch to England.
He reports Chelsea met with him this week to continue discussions and Boehly now finally has one of his men. He also wants a sporting director appointment.

When Chelsea will confirm the appointment remains unclear, but after Vivell's Leipzig exit, he is now free to join the Blues at any point with no restrictions in place.
New head coach Graham Potter was given a say in the decision, as per previous reports, following his appointment last month.

The 47-year-old will now work with Vivell in the coming weeks and January transfer window and beyond, as the club look to align visions across all departments.
"The guys are ambitious," Potter said earlier this week on the new owners at Chelsea.
"They want to develop the club and team.
"My job as head coach is to develop the players here, then work with the club to align decisions with the club when the transfer window opens."
