Graham Potter has revealed to Christian Pulisic that he "needs to be ready" to earn a recall to the Chelsea starting eleven.
The American has started just once since the arrival of Potter at Stamford Bridge in September.
While under the management of Thomas Tuchel, Pulisic was by no means the first name on the team sheet but he still featured regularly.

So far he has appeared just three times in the 47-year-old's reign, and was not involved in either of the Blues last two fixtures against Aston Villa and AC Milan.
This lack of involvement is not down to poor performance, in fact when the 22-year-old has played he has had a positive impact.

Against Crystal Palace, he came off the bench and picked up an assist after Conor Gallagher scored a late winner.
He was rewarded with a start in the Premier League the following week and impressed once again.
In the 3-0 win against Wolves, he scored the second goal of the game, with a deft finish past Jose Sa after being played through by Mason Mount.
These displays have not been enough to cement his place in the starting side, but he is still pleasing the new head coach.

According to Potter, he has been putting in a good effort in training and is fighting hard for a place in the starting XI.

Speaking about the decisions he has to go through when picking his side, the Englishman said: “You can imagine my focus is on Chelsea. I understand that all the players have ambition and want to play for different reasons; for their families, careers or World Cups financially.

That’s all fine but it’s my job to select the right team for whatever game. Not saying I am right all the time, I am not but somebody has got to make the call."
He then continued by saying what Pulisic needs to do to earn a spot: "With Christian I would say he has been fantastic around the place, been really good with team-mates, contributed against Wolves.
"He is pushing for a place, pushing for a start. Things change quickly in football and he needs to be ready.”
Chelsea face a trip to Brentford on Wednesday night and the winger will be hoping he is handed the opportunity to start.

Having only played on Sunday it is likely we could see some rotation to the squad which would likely give Pulisic a chance.
Every player is fighting to impress the head coach so he needs to make sure he stands out and confirms why he should be the favoured option.
