Inter Milan have set the date for Romelu Lukaku’s medical and signing of his contract ahead of his loan move from Chelsea, according to reports in Italy.
The 29-year-old struggled upon his return to Stamford Bridge last season, struggling to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s system at Chelsea.
The Belgian began life back in blue well, scoring on his debut against Arsenal before bagging a brace against Aston Villa.

However, after a torrid time with injuries and an absence through Covid, Lukaku sat down with Italian media to conduct an interview.
The forward discussed his time at Inter Milan, admitting that he dreamt of a return one day and went on to criticise the system in palace by Tuchel at Chelsea.
This led to him being dropped from the squad against Liverpool in the new year and the striker struggled to get back into the team since.
It was reported that Lukaku wished to return to Inter in January, just months after arriving at Chelsea for a club-record fee of £97.5 million

The Belgian international will leave the Blues with just 15 goals to his name from 44 games last season, with the striker’s form fluctuating throughout the campaign.
It was previously revealed that Lukaku’s medical would take place next week, with it now being reported as to the day.
According to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku will undergo his medical and sign his contract at Inter on Wednesday.
A complete agreement has been reached, after an initial €5 million loan fee for the club-record signing had been rejected earlier this month.

A €7 million loan fee with further add-ons was then agreed, to see the forward return to Italy.
Gazzetta continue to reveal that Lukaku must officially be signed by the end of the month for Inter to take advantage of tax benefits on his wages.
Wednesday will be the day that Lukaku visits Inter to complete his medical, sign his contract and later be revealed as an Inter player.

It is unclear as to when an official announcement is planned for but the Blues will be looking to replace the Belgian this summer.
Things have not worked out for the forward upon his return to London, with him set to spend at least the next season back in Italy.
While Chelsea are now set to complete one of their outgoings ahead of the new season, they will now be looking to finalise incomings throughout the window.

Raheem Sterling has also emerged as a potential target for the Blues, with Manchester City ready to let their forward leave in this window.
It remains unknown as to whether Tuchel will look for a like-for-like replacement for Lukaku this summer.
Kai Havertz filled in as a false nine, with much success last season, and the German could opt for this once more as they look to close the gap at the top of the Premier League.
