Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge after a heated and controversial affair on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Marc Cucurella’s corner finding Kalidou Koulibaly at the back post, with the new number 26 volleying past Hugo Lloris.
Spurs’ equalised in the 69th minute after a goal from a Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg from the edge of the area. The goal was controversial, as there appeared to be a foul on Kai Havertz in the build up, and caused a fracas on the bench between Tuchel and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Nevertheless, referee Anthony Taylor allowed the goal to stand.

Chelsea retook the lead in the 77th minute, Reece James latching onto a Raheem Sterling pass, and firing past Lloris.

It appeared as if the Blues’ were on course to make it two wins out of two, but a last-gasp Harry Kane header deflected in off of Reece James, and saw Spurs take a share of the points.
In the interim, here is how Absolute Chelsea rated the Blues’ performance vs Spurs.
Edouard Mendy - 7/10
Made an important save in the first half to deny Spurs’ Ryan Sessegnon. Made another important save at the start of the second half to stop Heung-Min Son from equalising. Unlucky with Hojbjerg’s equaliser. Was unlucky to concede late on.

Reece James - 8/10
Looked good at right centre back, and when Azpilicueta came on, it gave James the opportunity to go forward more. His goal was something Chelsea fans are used to by now, a run to the back post, and a brilliant finish past Lloris. Was unlucky to see his Kane’s header deflect in off his leg in the last minute.
Thiago Silva - 7/10
Advert
Solid as per usual from the Brazilian. Good on the ball, and was unlucky to not be on the winning side.
Kalidou Koulibaly - 8/10
Opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a brilliant volley. Looked composed on the ball and his positioning caused Harry Kane to barely have an opportunity all game, other than the last kick.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 7/10
Advert
Looked solid as a Right wing back and made some crucial interceptions at the back. Provided a lot going forward as well, and almost assisted Sterling for his first Chelsea goal in the second half.
Jorginho - 6/10 [73]
Captain for the day in the absence of Azpilicueta, the Italian ran the game nicely for the most part, yet was at fault for Spurs’ controversial equaliser when he was caught on the ball.
N'Golo Kante - 6/10 [83]
Intercepted the ball well as usual, but his passing play was poor.
Marc Cucurella - 7/10
Assisted Koulibaly’s goal with a corner which found the Senegalese Centre-back at the back post to open the scoring. Looked confident on the ball and was good going forward. Appeared to be fouled in the build up to Tottenham’s second equaliser.
Mason Mount - 7/10
Looked energetic and was involved in many promising attacks. Will be disappointed not to score after being played in by Gallagher.
Raheem Sterling - 7/10 [83]
Played with energy and had some really good moments. Will be disappointed not to have opened his Chelsea account in the second half after some great work from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but the England international could only put his effort over the bar. Assisted James for the goal to put Chelsea 2-1 with some extremely unselfish play.
Kai Havertz - 7/10 [89]
Was unlucky to be denied a goal in the first half after a fine save from Lloris, led the line well and combined well with Sterling at times. Should have put Chelsea ahead in the second half, but James’ cross was put past the post by the German.
Bench
Cesar Azpilicueta - 7/10 [73]
The captain closed the game out well after being brought on for Jorginho.
Armando Broja - 6/10 [89]
Couldn’t really get into the game after coming on late.
Conor Gallagher - 7/10 [83]
Looked energetic when he came on, creating a chance for Mount late on.
Christian Pulisic - 6/10 [83]
Couldn’t make much of an impact after coming on for Sterling.
