The reason as to why Chelsea have not yet signed any new players in the summer transfer window has been revealed.
Although the previous campaign has just finished, the Blues and the rest of the Premier League are already making preparations for next season.
Thomas Tuchel’s side finished third at the end of May but will be keen to mount a title challenge against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, having not won the Premier League since 2017.

Chelsea have also recently welcomed their new owners, with Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital set to experience their first transfer window at the helm of the World Champions.
However while other clubs have already started their respective business in the market, the Blues are yet to have made any new signings.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, this is due to the fact that the club are working ‘behind the scenes’ ahead of next season.

It is believed that they have ‘internal issues’ to resolve before they can welcome any incomings, although signings will be made in the summer.
This is said to be the priority for Boehly and therefore explains why Chelsea may appear to be slow in the market thus far.
One signing who could be ready to come through the doors at Stamford Bridge before the start of the new season is Jules Kounde.
The 23-year-old is expected to be a Chelsea player soon, with Sevilla CEO José María Cruz appearing to recently give the green light for a transfer to take place.

Ousmane Dembele is another player who could join the club in the coming months as the Frenchman is set to depart Barcelona at the end of his contract.
A more recent development has been the interest shown in Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who recently won his fourth Premier League title at the club.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium having made over 300 appearances since his move from Liverpool in 2015.

Chelsea are confident that they will be able to sign him in the summer and have him as one of their attacking options next season, with a fee of around £35 million being suggested.
However there is a belief that City could ask for a higher fee in order for a deal to take place, with other reports saying that they would be asking for £60 million for the England international.
