Chelsea are looking to renew Mason Mount’s contract at the club by the end of the year, according to reports.
Mount has been one of the Blues’ breakthrough stars from the Cobham academy in recent years, making his way into the senior squad in 2019 after a highly successful loan spell at Derby County in the Championship.
He was promoted from the youth sides to the first team by former boss and club legend Frank Lampard, who was also the manager of the Rams during the 2018/19 campaign.

The 23-year-old’s performances have been crucial to Chelsea’s success in recent seasons, including an assist for Kai Havertz in the Champions League final against Manchester City last year.
With two years left on his contract, the club may look to offer him a new deal in the hopes of keeping him at Stamford Bridge for the long-term.
When speaking about Chelsea’s transfer business this summer, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Mount has been waiting for negotiations to begin over a new contract.

The Blues want to get it ‘resolved’ by the end of the year, and it is something that needs to be discussed ‘as soon as possible’.
Across three campaigns at the club, the 23-year-old has made 160 appearances in all competitions.
Last season saw him have his best year to date, with the attacking midfielder amassing 29 goal contributions in 53 games, including his first ever career hat-trick when they played Norwich City early on in the campaign.
Now that he is an established starter for the club, they may look to put pen to paper on a new deal in order to fend off interest from other clubs.

Another player who could be given a new deal at Chelsea is Reece James who, like Mount, has broken into the first team from the academy in recent seasons.
The 22-year-old had a fluctuant campaign due to a couple of spells on the sidelines through injury, but he was still able to score six goals and provide ten assists from right wing-back.
Chelsea are confident that they will be able to tie him down to a new deal, with the Englishman attracting interest from the likes of City and Real Madrid.

It is believed that one of the priorities set by the club’s new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, is to extend the duo’s deals amid the start of a new chapter in the club’s history.
