Chelsea would hold the advantage in a potential transfer pursuit for Tammy Abraham as the Roma striker eyes a return to the Premier League, according to reports.
Abraham departed the Blues last summer for the Serie A, having spent 17 years at the former after coming through the academy at Cobham.
The striker spent time on loan at Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa before completing two full seasons in the senior side at Chelsea.

However, upon the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in January last year, his appearances in the side began to decrease.
Roma soon became interested in the 24-year-old, and signed him on a five-year deal.
Since his move to the Italian capital Abraham has scored 29 goals in all competitions, and the forward’s contributions on the European stage last season helped the club to win the inaugural Conference League title.
However, despite impressing in the Serie A, the striker could have his eyes set on a move back to England.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Abraham would like to make a return to the Premier League ‘as soon as possible’.
He does not see his long-term future in the top flight of Italian football but even though his departure would be a blow to Roma, Jose Mourinho’s side believe they will be able to make a profit on his £34 million move last summer.
Should the player want to leave the club, then Chelsea would have the upper hand in any transfer pursuit for his services.
As part of his deal to sign for Roma, there is a buy-back clause that will allow the Blues to bring him back for £68 million from next summer.

However, if other sides also show an interest in signing him, then there is a chance that Graham Potter’s side may have to pay more to bring the forward back to Stamford Bridge.
Abraham was fully promoted to the senior team at Chelsea by former boss and club legend Frank Lampard in 2019.
Prior to this, the attacker helped guide Aston Villa to the Championship play-off final during his loan spell there, with the Birmingham outfit securing promotion to the Premier League with their 2-1 win over Derby County.

He would go on to score 30 goals in 82 appearances for the Blues before his move to Roma, winning the Champions League and Super Cup during that time.
Chelsea opted to sign Romelu Lukaku as their new striker, but the Belgian is now on loan at Inter Milan following a poor campaign back at Stamford Bridge.
Kai Havertz is the only striker to remain at the club from their Champions League winning squad in 2021, with Timo Werner re-joining RB Leipzig on a permanent deal.
The Blues signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Deadline Day in the summer, but he has only made two appearances for them so far.
