Chelsea are set to launch a bid for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this week, according to reports.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, having seen Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku depart during the transfer window.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Tuchel admitted that he could look to bring in a striker in the summer transfer window.

“I think we could use and strengthen our squad in depth and strength in both. It’s one thing what you wish for and another what is possible,” he admitted.
“It needs to be possible. We are looking for top quality, top personalities, good characters and competitors on the highest levels.
“You don’t always get what you wish for and that’s why we are calm and ambitious at the same time. Quite some days to go until the end of the transfer period. Everything is possible until the end.”

The head coach was then questioned about Aubameyang, opening up on his relationship with the forward as well as his disciplinary record.
He continued: “I enjoyed a lot working with him, was a pleasure. Some players stay your players because you work very very close, Auba is one of these players.
“We had a very close relationship. Always when we played him here with Arsenal, there was always straight away this close bond. They always stay your players in a way, Auba is one of these guys.
“No (concerns) because I experienced none of this. This is nothing to do with the situation in Arsenal which I will also not comment out of respect.
“It’s not on me to comment, I don’t know what happened. In Dortmund there was never an issue.”

It has now been revealed that Chelsea are set to launch their first bid for the Gabon international this week in the hopes of signing Tuchel’s former player.
As reported by Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian, Chelsea are planning to launch a bid for Aubameyang this week.
As a player that Tuchel admires, the Blues will attempt to reunited the pair after losing their firepower in Werner and Lukaku this summer.

It remains to be seen as to whether Chelsea are prepared to meet Barcelona’s valuation of the forward, however.
It was recently reported that Chelsea were set to meet Barcelona to discuss a move, with it unclear whether the meeting has happened yet.
Tuchel will be hoping to get a deal wrapped up sooner rather than later as he looks to compete at the top of the Premier League with his squad.
