Sheikh Jassim's true feelings on buying Man Utd in the future revealed a year on from failed takeover bid

Sheikh Jassim's true feelings on buying Man Utd in the future revealed a year on from failed takeover bid

The Qatari led a group that tried to purchase United earlier this year.

Sheikh Jassim feelings towards submitting another bid to takeover Manchester United have been revealed.

In February last year, a Qatari group led by deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Jassim attempted to purchase United from the Glazer family.

Ultimately, they were unsuccessful as their bid for a full takeover was viewed as unfavourable compared to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's purchase of a minority stake in the club.

But now, the true feelings of Jassim towards launching another takeover attempt of the Premier League giants have been revealed.

According to the Daily Mail, the Qatari consortium are continuing to monitor the situation at United, and are saddened at the state of the club since Ratcliffe's takeover.

Under a strategy named 'Project Ruby' they planned to bring United back to its former glory, but instead the club has been forced to deal with several big issues like the sacking of former manager Erik ten Hag and the departure of Sporting Director Dan Ashworth.

However, a source has reportedly claimed that Sheikh Jassim and his partners have not ruled out a future move for United.

"Sheikh Jassim is still a rich guy," explained an advisor to the Qatari group.

"He is still a United fan. He is not going to rush off and try another Premier League club.

"If the opportunity to buy the whole of Manchester United arose again at some point in the future it is hard to see there not being a big level of interest. The plans are still there."

Nearly 12 months after the Ratcliffe takeover, United continue to struggle in the Premier League, where they currently sit in 13th place after 15 games.

The Red Devils are 16 points behind League leaders Liverpool, who comfortably beat them 3-0 at Old Trafford early in the season.

Off the pitch, the new United owners had also had to deal with several controversies, including cost-cutting exercises that saw 250 people lose their jobs and tickets for children and pensioners raised to £66.

Meanwhile Ashworth, who was reportedly headhunted by Ratcliffe and INEOS, left his role as United Sporting Director just five months after joining following the 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
