The reason behind the delay of a potential takeover of Manchester United has reportedly been revealed.
The United takeover process originally started back in November, after the club's board announced it was looking for 'strategic alternatives'.
Those 'alternatives' included a potential full or partial sale, and US merchant bank Raine Group have been overseeing the process.

Several interested parties have submitted proposals to buy the club. Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim - through his Nine Two Foundation - and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are among the bidders.
Ratcliffe wants a majority share in United alongside his petrochemicals company INEOS, while Sheikh Jassim wants a full takeover. Minority investors are also involved.
The Qatari businessman submitted his final offer at the beginning of June - but there has been very little progress in the process since then.

The beginning of the transfer window has come and gone, and journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that even if the Glazer family agree to a takeover, it could take a minimum of six weeks for it to be finalised.
Now, a new report has shed further light on why the process is being delayed.
Man Utd takeover delay 'revealed'
The Daily Mirror have reported that United boss Erik ten Hag met with Avram Glazer at the club's pre-season tour base in New Jersey.

It is claimed that the takeover was on the meeting agenda, although the exact nature of discussions is unclear.
Glazer attended the MetLife Stadium to watch United's high-profile friendly against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Mirror also claim that the Glazer family remain split over whether to sell the club or not, with Avram and Joel Glazer wanting to remain in control at Old Trafford - which is causing delays.
Six Glazer family members own shares in United, with the other siblings - Bryan, Darcie, Edward and Kevin - said to be willing to sell their shares.

The Athletic reported in April that Joel and Darcie hold the highest amount of voting power, with 19.11 and 18.15 per cent respectively of the shares that the Glazer family holds.
