Alan Shearer's X-rated response to Forest statement has him saying 'it's a good job we're not on the BBC'

Alan Shearer's X-rated response to Forest statement has him saying 'it's a good job we're not on the BBC'

Alan Shearer pulled no punches as he slammed Nottingham Forest's statement following their defeat to Everton.

Alan Shearer held nothing back as he slammed Nottingham Forest for posting a statement on social media following their defeat to Everton.

Forest released a statement on social media slamming the officiating and VAR controversy following their 2-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

The club shared a second statement demanding the audio between the officials to be released.

The Premier League hit back as they expressed their disappointment at the statement.

Forest then posted a third statement as they asked for 'greater transparency around the PGMOL'.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer couldn't believe Forest's initial statement following their defeat to Everton.

He branded the club's decision to post a statement as an 'absolute embarrassment' in a stinging assessment.

"Honestly, before we go anywhere, let’s just say well done to Everton," he began. "Very much like at the top of the table, at this stage of the season, it doesn’t matter how you play or what decisions you get, just get the three points, by hook or by crook. Everton got them and that’s all that matters."

Shearer then exclaimed: “But... and it's a good job I'm not on the BBC - what the f**k are Forest doing putting that statement out? It’s an absolute embarrassment, isn’t it? ‘We told the PGMOL he was a Luton fan'. What on earth are they thinking about? It’s embarrassing.

"I thought Anthony Taylor and Stuart Attwell had a terrible afternoon, but you can’t behave like that if you’re a top professional football club, one of the best, a team that has been amazing over the years, a European Cup and all of that.

"Then behaving like that, there’s just no class to it. How ever angry you are, however upset you are, you cannot be putting statements out like that."

Forest's defeat to Everton is a blow to their hopes of staying in the top flight.

They are one place above the relegation zone, one point ahead of Luton Town.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side resume their league campaign on Sunday when they host Manchester City.
