Manchester City are most likely to be crowned the winners of the Champions League this season.

That's according to the folks at FiveThirtyEight, which has broken down the likelihood of progression for the final eight teams in UEFA's top-tier club competition.

The website has scored each team using its Soccer Power Index, which keeps a track record of their attacking and defensive displays and awards them with an individual score rating, too.

Well, Pep Guardiola's men have received an SPI rating of 94.7 and have an 80 per cent chance of making it to the semi-finals, along with a 58 per cent chance of reaching the final and 34 per cent chance of winning the competition.

Followed closely behind City is none other than Premier League-challenging rivals Liverpool, with the Reds holding an impressive 93.1 SPI rating.

Jürgen Klopp's side have an even higher rate of reaching the semi-finals than the reigning Premier League champions, holding an 85 per cent chance of progression to the next round and 47 per cent chance of reaching the final.

However, Liverpool only have a 25 per cent chance of winning the competition, says FiveThirtyEight.

Barcelona finished third in the website's list, while Juventus came fourth and Ajax were fifth.

Four Premier League sides have made it through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but they face no easy task with the opposition left in the competition.

"If City, United, Spurs or Liverpool hope to pry the Champions League trophy from continental Europe, they're likely to have to go through an in-form [Cristiano] Ronaldo. Or an in-form [Lionel] Messi. Both realities are terrifying," Terrence Doyle wrote for FiveThirtyEight.

The Champions League draw was made on Friday, with City to face Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to play against Porto.

Manchester United were paired with Barcelona, while Ajax will be taking on Juventus.

Following on from the Champions League draw, both Arsenal and Chelsea have found out which teams they would face in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Will Guardiola lead City to the Champions League crown this season?
