In recent weeks, the future of Kylian Mbappe has been the talk of the town.
There have been reports claiming that Mbappe will not extend his current Paris Saint Germain contract beyond 2024.
Since then, he has been linked with a move to Manchester United due to the ongoing takeover process involving Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.
If Mbappe did end up at United, he will go head-to-head with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.

How would that play out? I hear you ask. Well, we found out by putting Mbappe in the United squad for the 23/24 season on Football Manager 2023.
In terms of goal scoring, both Mbappe and Haaland’s numbers were nothing spectacular. The Frenchman recorded just 15 goals in 38 Premier League matches, with Haaland scoring 17, a big drop-off from the 36 he scored for City in the 22/23 campaign.
Haaland also recorded more assists than Mbappe, the Norwegian had eight whilst Mbappe only managed six.

Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal ended up winning the Golden Boot alongside Chelsea forward Kai Havertz after both players scored 18 goals in the league.
Haaland’s City successfully defended their Premier League crown as they finished above Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
United meanwhile, endured a dreadful season even with Mbappe in the team as they ended the campaign in sixth place, a huge 27 points adrift of City.

Throughout the season, Haaland had an average rating of 7.28, which is much lower than Mbappe’s 7.45.
Speaking about his future, Mbappe recently told reporters that he wants to stay with PSG.
He said: “I’ve already spoken about this, I’ve said that my objective is to stay at PSG, it’s my only option right now, I’m ready to come back for pre-season. Why go to the end of my contract? There is nothing to explain, people can talk.

“They don't have all the ins and outs, too bad for them, I know why I'm doing this, there's no no problem with that. Did I hesitate to come [to the press conference]? Not at all, I have a responsibility, it's not a few outside noises that will scare me away from my responsibility.”
