Sir Alex Ferguson pushing Man Utd to make one signing who could have huge impact on club

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly desperate the club make one crucial signing to ensure the club regains success.

Sir Alex Ferguson is pushing for Manchester United to secure the services of one man, who could change the landscape of the entire club.

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently acquiring a 25% stake in the club, there are set to be major changes both on and off the pitch for United and some have already taken place.

The addition of Omar Berrada as the new CEO from rivals Manchester City was a big statement of the ambition the new ownership have for the club. Ratcliffe has also revealed his preference would be to build a new stadium for United rather than renovate Old Trafford, which has had mixed reception from fans.

United are also set to confirm Dan Ashworth as their new Sporting Director from Newcastle United, as they again appear to be poaching assets from their direct rivals.

The latest update on the off-field reshuffle comes from Sir Alex Ferguson who has reportedly called for United to appoint Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman as the club's new head of recruitment.

The report from Football Insider claims the Man United legend believes that under new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Eagles’ chief may accomplish amazing things for the team going forward.

Palace's most recent successful signings were primarily orchestrated by Freedman, who secured the services of Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Michael Olise.

These three young players in particular have shown immense potential in an often struggling Palace side, and if they are ever to move on they will almost certainly command a huge transfer fee.

According to the report, Ferguson believes Freedman's eye for talent could assist Ashworth in identifying and recruiting such promising players for Manchester United. Sell-on value has been a major issue for United in recent times, with almost all the club's signings decreasing in value after they joined the club.
