Man United hit with double illness blow on eve of Bayern Munich game

Man United hit with double illness blow on eve of Bayern Munich game

Erik ten Hag has been dealt a blow in his preparations ahead of tomorrow's huge Champions League showdown.

Manchester United have been hit with a double illness blow ahead of their crunch Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich.

Man United need to beat the German giants to stand any chance of qualifying for the next round of the competition.

They head into the European fixture having suffered a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

On the eve of their massive Champions League encounter, the club have been hit with a double illness blow.

According to Samuel Luckhurst, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are both unwell and were absent from Monday's training session.

Martial started on Saturday but was replaced in the second-half. Rashford was among the substitutes as he entered the fray in the second-half.

Victor Lindelof, however, has returned to training having missed the defeat against Bournemouth. Amad Diallo, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, is also training.

Speaking at his press conference on Monday, Erik ten Hag said: "It's a condensed programme."

He added: "We have training so, in this moment, I am not sure about everyone who is available for tomorrow but the question is over whether Victor Lindelof, whether he can make it or not. We will have to see tomorrow."

Man United's game against Bayern is a must-win. They not only need to beat Harry Kane's team but also hope for a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray to progress to the knockout stages.

Ten Hag's side are currently bottom of Group A, with four points on the board.

The Red Devils have won just one of their five group stage matches, beating Copenhagen 1-0 in October.

As for Bayern, they've secured top spot, having recorded 13 points from five matches.

But they are coming off a crushing 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
