Man United ‘open’ talks with agent over first summer transfer that won’t go down well with fans

Manchester United have reportedly held talks over a surprise summer transfer.

Manchester United are set for huge changes in the summer but fans won't be best pleased with the latest transfer links.

United are set for a mass squad overhaul and already there have been plenty of rumours regarding incomings at the club.

A striker would appear to be a priority area to ease the burden on £72 million signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Erik ten Hag revealed in a recent interview that the club were desperate to sign Harry Kane last summer before he moved to Bayern Munich.

But while an experienced forward is necessary, a surprise has been touted as a possible option.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo, United have held talks with the agent of former Stoke and Newcastle flop Joselu.

The 34-year-old has just helped Real Madrid win La Liga while on loan from Espanyol, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.

And though discussions have reportedly taken place, it's believed the Spaniard's preference would be to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos do have the option to buy Joselu outright, though they could well have both Endrick and Kylian Mbappe adding to their formidable forward line in the summer.

Joselu scored Real's third in the 3-0 win over Cadiz on Saturday and is clearly loving playing for the 14-time European champions.

"We're surrounded by the best in the world, this club is special because it always has the best player," he said.

"We have an incredible squad from the first to the last. Everyone brings what they can contribute, and that is reflected in games like today. Every player is ready to play at any time. The coach and the coaching staff have done an excellent job with the planning of the squad.

"We only have one small step left, Wednesday, and we're looking forward to it."
