Andre Onana drops latest howler as Man Utd go behind to side rock bottom of the Premier League

Andre Onana drops latest howler as Man Utd go behind to side rock bottom of the Premier League

The United goalkeeper won't want to see that moment again.

Andre Onana produced another howler as Manchester United fell behind to the club rock bottom of the Premier League.

Man United just about avoided serious embarrassment in the FA Cup semi-finals against Coventry City on Sunday, but on Wednesday Onana had a moment to forget.

The goalkeeper saved a penalty in United's 4-2 shootout victory at Wembley, but against Sheffield United he produced a shocking mistake.

With the game goalless with 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Onana passed the ball straight to Sheffield United attacker Jayden Bogle.

The Blades star kept his cool and slotted past the goalkeeper, putting the Premier League's bottom club ahead at Old Trafford.

Onana has endured mixed fortunes since he joined the club from Inter Milan last summer.

The 27-year-old made several mistakes during his first few months at United, which contributed to their group stage exit from the Champions League.

In recent months he has looked much more assured, but this latest clanger won't do much for the wavering confidence supporters have in him.

Fortunately for Onana, United soon drew level when Harry Maguire headed past Wes Foderingham from close range.

After the excitement and drama of Wembley at the weekend, United had to return their focus to league action in a bid to keep alive their slim hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Erik ten Hag's side are currently seventh in the table and would still be 13 points off the top four event with a win.

Sheffield United arrived at Old Trafford knowing they are almost certain to be relegated.

Chris Wilder's side came into the match bottom of the table with just 16 points from 33 games and 10 points from safety.
