Liverpool and Feyenoord ‘reach agreement’ as Arne Slot set to replace Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool and Feyenoord ‘reach agreement’ as Arne Slot set to replace Jurgen Klopp

Arne Slot is set to become the new manager of Liverpool.

Liverpool and Feyenoord have reportedly reached an agreement for Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp.

This week, it was reported that Liverpool have made Slot their preferred choice to take over from Klopp in the summer.

Speaking ahead of Feyenoord’s 3-1 win over Go Ahead Eagles, the 45-year-old expressed his desire to move to Anfield.

He said: “The clubs are negotiating, I am awaiting the outcome. It is no secret I want to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, I am confident that will happen.”

Now, it seems that an agreement has been made between the two clubs.

As reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who wrote on social media: “BREAKING: Arne Slot will be new Liverpool head coach replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season!

“Agreement sealed on compensation between Feyenoord and #LFC, all set also on contract details for Slot. Here we go.”

Prior to Slot becoming the favourite, the likes of Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank were all linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool job.

However, Alonso revealed last month that he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen, whilst recent reports indicate that Amrorim moving to Liverpool is unlikely.

After Liverpool’s dismal 2-0 defeat against Everton on Wednesday night, captain Virgil van Dijk became the first player to speak about Slot.

He said: “I think Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment.

“With the way he plays and the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach. But I read and hear that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, but that is still a long way off.”

Liverpool will be back in action on Saturday as they take on West Ham United in the Premier League.
