Arne Slot has already rejected three English clubs as he 'holds talks' to become next Liverpool manager

Feyenoord boss Slot is reportedly in talks to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has already turned down the opportunity to take charge of three English clubs as he reportedly begins talks to become Liverpool manager.

Slot has emerged as Liverpool's 'top target' to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager at the end of the season.

Sky Sports report that the process could 'move quickly', as per sources in the Netherlands, with Slot fulfilling several key criteria that Liverpool chiefs are looking for in their new boss.

Talks have already begun, with required compensation believed to be in the region of £9 million for the Reds to appoint the 2022/23 Eredivisie-winning manager.

This isn't the first time that the 45-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League - although the latest links appear to be far more concrete.

Leeds approached Slot with a proposal to take over from Jesse Marsch last February, with the Whites battling relegation from the Premier League.

But the Dutchman elected to remain at Feyenoord, telling reporters: "It is true that I will stay at Feyenoord. I can confirm that. That is clear, the fans do not have to be afraid.

"It was a compliment that a club like Leeds was interested, but we are doing something great with Feyenoord. We are in a great position in the league, the cup and Europe."

Slot was also linked with the vacant Chelsea role after the sacking of Graham Potter, with Dutch outlet AD claiming that he held talks with Blues chairman Todd Boehly.

The report added, though, that Boehly couldn't convince the Feyenoord boss to sign on the dotted line, and Mauricio Pochettino was appointed instead.

The third club that could have appointed him was Tottenham, but Slot signed a new three-year contract at Feyenoord last summer instead. Although he was reportedly considered the club's initial top target, Spurs' attentions quickly turned towards Celtic's Ange Postecoglou.

Explaining last summer why he chose not to leave - and perhaps foreboding a move to Liverpool this summer - Slot explained: "I'm not done here yet. We have had a wonderful season with Feyenoord, with the championship [Eredivisie 2022/23] a wonderful reward for all the hard work that has been put in.

"But I really want to continue building. After the summer, an adventure awaits in the Champions League, and there is a national title to defend.

"Enough to look forward to, so I am proud to be and remain Feyenoord's trainer in Rotterdam."
