Barcelona star's agent claims Xavi has stopped talking to him

The player’s agent has spoken about Barcelona boss Xavi.

A Barcelona star’s agent has claimed that manager Xavi has stopped talking to the player.

Former Barcelona and Spain player turned manager Xavi has been making the headlines this season.

Back in January, the Spaniard declared his wish to leave the club at the end of the 23/24 season.

However, towards the end of April, Xavi made a drastic u-turn as he is to stay on as Barcelona manager.

Now, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona star Vitor Roque’s agent has claimed that Xavi has stopped speaking to the player.

Romano wrote on social media: “itor Roque's agent Cury: "It's not logical to sign a Brazilian international, bring him here and start playing him from the first day - then another game and then no more...".

“‘Then he scores two goals and then... disappeared. Xavi does NOT even talk to the boy.’”

Last summer, Roque signed for Barcelona from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense.

It was reported that the 19-year-old’s contract with the Catalan club contains a release clause of €500 million.

After making his debut in January, Roque has only managed 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice.

Speaking about Xavi, Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste said: “Xavi will stay, he’s really happy and excited.

“We’ve never opened talks for any other coach. [Barça director] Deco trusts Xavi, it’s guaranteed.”

Xavi, who is often regarded as one of Barcelona’s best ever players, was appointed manager back in November 2021, replacing Ronald Koeman.

During his first full season in charge, Xavi led the Catalan club to the La Liga title.

However, Barcelona’s performances in Europe was way below par after they suffered back-to-back Champions League group-stage exits.

This season, their performances in Europe improved as they managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, losing to French giants Paris Saint Germain.
