Harry Kane tried to get another England teammate to join Bayern Munich

Harry Kane was unsuccessful in his attempt to get another England colleague to join him at Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane tried to get another England teammate to join him at Bayern Munich but his attempts were unsuccessful.

Kane finally left Spurs in the summer, signing for the Bavarians in an £82 million deal.

Despite Bayern struggling in the league and trailing leaders Bayer Leverkusen by 10 points in the Bundesliga, Kane has been in fine form and netted 36 goals in 34 games in all competitions.

The England skipper has been joined at the Allianz Arena by former Spurs teammate and compatriot Eric Dier, who signed on an initial January loan that will be made permanent after making nine appearances.

But Bayern also tried to acquire another England star, with reports claiming they offered £12.5 million for Newcastle right-back Kieran Trippier.

Trippier, who previously played abroad and won La Liga with Atletico Madrid, was on holiday in New York when he learned of the interest.

Pal Kane was trying to do his best to persuade Trippier to come but he ultimately elected to stay put.

As per The Sun, Trippier said: “I was in New York on holiday and I was woken at 5am being told that Bayern Munich wanted to sign me.

“I was like, ‘This is a bit random’. I never thought at 33 that Bayern would want to sign me, so it was more of a shock to me than anybody.

“Harry [Kane] was texting, of course, but it just wasn’t the right thing for me.

"He was asking if it’s true, telling me it’s warmer than Newcastle and having a bit of banter.

"But I never once tried to force a move out of the club. I’ve been loyal to Newcastle.”

Trippier is contracted to Newcastle until 2025 after signing an extension to his deal in January last year.

He is currently sidelined with a calf injury suffered in the 3-0 win over Wolves and is expected to be out for around a month.
