A former Premier League player offered to play for Wrexham for free after sending a message to co-owner Ryan Reynolds.
Reynolds and Rob McElhenney officially took over Wrexham in February 2021, investing £2 million into the club upon taking charge.
They have since invested significant sums into the playing squad, club and the local community, and have been rewarded with consecutive promotions from the National League to League One.

Although Wrexham had the largest budget in both the National League and League Two, they spent their money wisely on players with proven EFL experience.
The likes of Paul Mullin, Elliot Lee, James McClean and Ben Tozer have all played key roles in their success - although the latter will not be at the club next season after Wrexham announced he would be released at the end of his contract.
But perhaps the highest-profile signing was former Manchester United, West Brom and England goalkeeper Ben Foster, who came out of retirement for a brief spell to help Wrexham gain promotion from the National League.

And the Red Dragons could have had another former Premier League player to help them rise up the leagues.
Shortly before Wrexham's promotion from the National League, former Reading and West Brom star Hal Robson-Kanu dropped a comment underneath one of Reynolds' Instagram posts, offering his services for the upcoming campaign.
He said: "I'll come out of retirement and come and play for Wrexham next season. I'll also give my salary to the charity of the fans' choosing."
At the time, Robson-Kanu had been without a club since leaving West Brom at the end of his contract in June 2021.

Speaking on Sky Sports about the Wrexham proposal, he stated that he was not retired and insisted that he would be 'happy' to have a conversation with Reynolds.
The move never transpired, and Robson-Kanu is still yet to find a new club.
However, he did feature in a Sainsbury's advert in October, pretending to be a shop floor worker.
The advert was based around a product from The Turmeric Co, a company he founded in 2018 that sells turmeric shots.

All the while, the now 34-year-old has yet to officially announce that he is retired from professional football - although it appears he has plenty of other things to occupy himself with.
