Liverpool player quietly confirms he is looking for a new club this summer as Arne Slot rebuild begins

Slot is expected to be formally appointed as Jurgen Klopp's replacement at Liverpool.

The first Liverpool player has confirmed that he is looking for a new club this summer ahead of the anticipated arrival of Arne Slot as manager.

The Reds and Feyenoord have agreed a deal in principle for Slot, who will replace Jurgen Klopp at the Anfield helm once negotiations are finalised.

Klopp will manage his last Liverpool game on Sunday when the Reds host Wolves at Anfield.

The Daily Mirror reported that negotiations between Liverpool and Slot had slowed because his long-time assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, has a dual commitment between Feyenoord and the Netherlands national team.

However, Hulshoff has since stood down from his role with the KNVB.

As far as recruitment goes, Slot is likely to want to get down to business in improving his Liverpool squad once he formally takes charge as expected.

It is unclear as to whether the Dutchman will have any input into the Reds' retained list, which is normally released following the final game of the season.

However, one Liverpool squad member has already publicly announced that he will be looking for a new club as his contract expires next month.

That player is third-choice goalkeeper Adrian, who signed a one-year deal last June to stay at Anfield.

The Spaniard became a cult hero at Anfield during his first season as he briefly deputised for the injured Alisson, and was the hero in the penalty shootout as the Reds beat Chelsea to win the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.

But the 37-year-old hasn't played a competitive match since the 2022 Community Shield, with Caoimhin Kelleher taking his spot as the second-choice goalkeeper.

Speaking to Movistar Plus, Adrian stated: "I would like to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle.

"I'm still ready to compete. I feel very good, despite being 37. You know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven't had any serious injuries lately and you're fine, the daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.

"I haven't sat down with Liverpool yet. I don't rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in La Liga."
