Mauricio Pochettino produced an awkward post-match interview despite Chelsea’s victory over Tottenham.

On Thursday evening, the Blues dispatched Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to keep them in the hunt for European football and deal a massive blow to their London rivals’ Champions League qualification hopes.

Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring before Chelsea doubled their lead in the 71st minute after Cole Palmer's free-kick struck the bar and rebounded into the path of Nicolas Jackson, who netted into an empty net.

Victory has seen Chelsea move to eighth, just two points behind Newcastle in seventh and a possible spot in Europe next term, while Tottenham are now seven points adrift of Villa in their battle for fourth place, albeit with a game in hand.

Despite the victory, however, the usually jovial Pochettino produced an awkward post-match interview that has led fans to speculate he may be set to depart Chelsea.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said after the match: "Enough is enough. All managers need time to translate their ideas and philosophy.

"It's not my decision [if I get time]. I don't know [if I am being judged by the owners].

"It's difficult to see every single week that I am under scrutiny and judgement.

"It's not my decision whether to be here or not to be here [next season].

"I can't say nothing. What I can say is if after the decision, if we want to match the history of Chelsea it's a lot of work to do. We'll see if we have time to build this way."

A contingent of fans on X claimed the Chelsea boss’ comments suggested he would imminently be leaving the club.

One fan said on X, formally Twitter: "Pochettino is actually gone, why do I feel sad for him?"

Another wrote: "Pochettino is gone for sure, this post-match interview is horrible."

While a third said: "Pochettino doesn’t seem very confident about being here next season in that interview…"

Another wrote: "This interview from Pochettino is CRAZY! This is a man resigned to being sacked."
